Our Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective and widely researched psychotherapy treatments for anxiety, depression and other common mental health problems. It helps you understand the negative thought patterns, emotions and behaviours that may be keeping you stuck, and how you can change these to improve the way you feel.
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented approach that can help you make sense of your problems by breaking them down into smaller parts, so it’s easier to notice the effect that some of your thoughts have on what you do. Together, we work to understand patterns maintaining your problems and develop practical strategies for creating meaningful and lasting change.
Practical skills learnt through CBT can help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way, helping you cope better long after your therapy has ended.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness-based therapy helps people focus on the present moment with an attitude of openness and compassion.
At SteadyMind Therapy, we integrate mindfulness into our therapeutic work to help you develop a different relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. In sessions, you learn skills to help you notice thoughts and feelings as they arise, rather than getting pulled into them automatically, and then use that awareness to cope more effectively with stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges.
Research has consistently shown that cultivating present-moment awareness can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain, whilst enhancing overall wellbeing.
